NFL WEEK #10 PICKS

Image

It’s hard to believe we are already at Week #10 in the NFL.  Every NFL season has it’s share of injuries; however, 2013 seems to be much more devastating to teams as far as the amount of injuries as well as the caliber of players that are being injured.  Let’s take a look at some of the Season Ending Injuries, just on the Offensive Side of the ball.  So far, Reggie Wayne (WR), Doug Martin (RB), Julio Jones (WR), Miles Austin (WR), Jermicah Finley (TE), Randall Cobb (WR), Brandon Gibson (WR), Dustin Keller (TE), David Wilson (RB), Da’Rel Scott (RB), Mark Sanchez (QB), Jeremy Maclin (WR), Plaxico Burress (WR), Malcolm Floyd (WR), Sidney Rice (WR), Sam Bradford (QB), Mike Williams (WR), Kevin Walter (WR), Spencer Ware (RB) are all out for the season with injuries.  These are all important pieces to their team’s offense.

The following Quarterbacks have missed extended time due to injuries: Aaron Rodgers, Jay Cutler, Mike Vick, Terelle Pryor, Christian Ponder, Blaine Gabbert, Brian Hoyer, E.J. Manuel, Kevin Kolb, and Thad Lewis.  There are also many Key Season Ending Injuries on Defense.  Of course, the most devastating injuries have hurt the Indianapolis Colts (Reggie Wayne), Atlanta Falcons (Julio Jones, Roddy White, Steven Jackson), Tampa Bay Bucs (Mike Williams, Doug Martin), Miami Dolphins (Brandon Gibson, Dustin Keller), and the Saint Louis Rams (Sam Bradford).  Injuries are a part of the game, but this season seems to have many more than usual.  These injuries have also hurt many Fantasy Teams throughout the nation.  Let’s preview Week #10’s Match Ups and we will pick our winners and losers.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (0-8)

TENNESSEE TITANS (4-4)

Ok, the Jacksonville Jaguars have not come close to even sniffing a win so far this season.  The Jaguars will almost certainly get the First Pick of the Draft in 2014.  The Jags are 32nd in total offense with 2,292 Yards.  They are the only NFL team that is averaging less than 300 yards per game at 287 YPG.  They have also scored a league low 86 Points for a 10.8 Point Average.  The Jaguars have turned the ball over 15 times with 12 INT/3 Fumbles.  In contrast, they only have 8 Takeaways.  Their -Seven Turnover Ratio is tied for twelfth.  Jacksonville is 25th in team defense.  So add their pathetic offense with their horrible defense and they have a recipe for failure.  Tennessee on the other hand has the 7th Ranked Defense, only having given up 2,722 Yards.  The Titans are Eighth in Points Allowed (167) and Ninth for Points Per Game (20.9).  Tennessee is 28th In Team Offense.  So how do these two teams match up?  The Titans are 13 Point Favorites at home.  Jake Locker has been hot as of late and has a 91.0 QB Rating.  This is the Thirteenth Best Passer Rating which is not bad for a second year QB.  Chris Johnson had a breakout game last week with over 150 Yards Rushing and Two Touchdowns.  He is currently 12th in League Rushing.  I  am taking Tennessee in this one and they will cover.  Jacksonville is just that terrible.  Tennessee wins 24-10.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (4-5)

@

GREEN BAY PACKERS (5-3)

The Packers come into this game only favored by one point at home.  Green Bay is missing their best Player and Leader Aaron Rodgers (QB) who is a perennial MVP and who always gives Green Bay a chance to win.  The Packers are also missing their best Wide Receiver, Randall Cobb who is out with a knee injury.  Senaca Wallace will be taking the snaps.  Rodgers has thrown Fifteen TD’s and only 4 INT.  Wallace in his limited action was 11 for 19 and 114 Yards, 0 TD’s/1 INT.  Meanwhile, Green Bay is 5th in Total Offense and 3rd in Points Scored Per Game.  The Packers have scored 232 Points, good enough for Fifth in the League and they bolster a strong rushing attack with Eddie Lacy.  Lacy is Eighth in Rushing with 596 Yards on the Ground and 4TD’s.  Green Bay is 11th in Total Defense and Fifteenth in Points Allowed Per Game with a 23.1 Yards Per Game Average.  Philly comes into the game  with the Leagues Second most potent offense with 3,719 Total Yards, only 20 behind Denver.  The Eagles have also scored 225 Points for an average of 25 Points per Game.  However, the Eagles are dead last in almost every Defensive Category.  Quarterback Nick Foles is coming off a career day as well as tying a league record with Seven Touchdown Passes.  Foles has a 127.4 Passer Rating, 1,028 Yards Passing and 13 TD/0 INT.  Expect Foles to come down to earth a little bit, but the Eagles will win the game pretty easy on the Road.  I am going with the Eagles 35-20 in a route.  The Eagles Defense will score a Touchdown in this game as well.

Image

BUFFALO BILLS (3-6)

@

Image

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (2-6)

No one would have predicted that both of these teams would be as bad as they have been.  The Steelers and Bills both came into the season with high hopes.  Buffalo is Twelfth in Total Offense; however they are only averaging 21 Points Per Game which is 21st in the League.  Pittsburgh has been even more abysmal on Offense scoring 19.5 Points Per Game which is 25th in the League.  The Steelers are 23rd in Total Yards.  The Steelers are Eight in Defense though, while the Bills are near the bottom at 28th and have given up over 26 Points Per Game.  This game will not be a pretty one.  The Steelers are favored by a field goal and I say the Steelers will win and cover, 20-13.  However, the Steelers have come on a little too late and will not be making a playoff run.

Image

OAKLAND RAIDERS (3-5)

@

Image

NEW YORK GIANTS (2-6)

The Oakland Raiders were manhandled by the Philadelphia Eagles in Week Nine, despite coming into the game with the Eighth best Defense.  The Raiders will also be without running back Darren McFadden, who will be out with an injury.  The Giants are only 26th in Total Offense and Tenth in Team Defense.  Eli Manning is having his worst season of his career and the Giants lack a strong running game.  The Giants are favored by a Touchdown.  Neither  of these teams are playoff contenders and both are sloppy on both sides of the ball.  The Raiders and Giants are also two of the most penalized teams in the league.  I am going to take Oakland with the upset as they beat the New York Football Giants, 24-17.

Image

SAINT LOUIS RAMS (3-6)

@

Image

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (6-2)

The Colts lead the AFC South with a record of 6-2.  Yes, the Colts have lost a key weapon in Reggie Wayne; however, they do have more talent surrounding Andrew Luck than the previous year.  Andrew has not needed as much “luck” this season.  The Rams are dead last in the NFC West, and have lost franchise Quarterback Sam Bradford for the season.  The Colts are in the middle of the pack with the 18th Ranked Defense and 24th Rated Offense.  However, the Colts are Eighth with a 26.8 Points Per Game Average and they have been multi-talented through the air and ground.  The Colts traded for running back Trent Richardson early in the season and he has yet to shine.  Colts Defensive End Robert Mathis leads the league with 11.5 Sacks.  The Colts have also beaten the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, and Houston Texans, all teams with winning records.  The Rams have been pretty bad.  The Colts are favored at 9.5 Points at home.  I say the Colts win but fail to cover, 21-14.

Image

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (8-1)

@

Image

ATLANTA FALCONS (2-6)

This line surprises me.  The Falcons have been the most disappointing team this season as they were many experts pick to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.  However, poor Quarterback Play from Matt Ryan and injuries have shut the Falcons down.  Marshawn Lynch has been an absolute beast for the Seahawks and is Fourth in Rushing in the NFL with 726 Yards and 6 Touchdowns.  Russell Wilson has a 98.9 Passer Rating with 1,800 Yards Passing, 15 TD/6 INT.  Seattle is 11th in Total Offense and Fourth in Total Defense.  The Seahawks have given up only 16.6 Points Per Game.  The Seahawks are only favored by 4 Points??? Something does not add up here.  Seattle goes to 9-1 as they clobber the injury riddled Falcons 34-17.

Image

CINCINNATI BENGALS (6-3)

@

Image

BALTIMORE RAVENS (3-5)

My how things change in a year.  The Ravens, fresh off of their Super Bowl win are second to last in the AFC North, while the Bengals are at the top.  The Bengals are Fourth in Offense and Sixth in Defense.  Andy Dalton is 4th with 2,587 Yards Passing and 16TD/10 INT and a 92.0 QB Rating.  The Bengals also have 961 Rushing Yards as Ben Jarvius-Green Ellis and Giovanni Bernard have been the Lightning and Thunder.  The Ravens have definitely dropped off on both sides of the ball, mainly the Defense.  They are however sixth in Total Defense.  Every time these teams get together there is a rivalry.  The Bengals are only favored by 1.5 Points on the Road.  Andy Dalton throws 4 TD’s and the Bengals beat the Ravens 35-20.

Image

DETROIT LIONS (5-3)

@

Image

CHICAGO BEARS (5-3)

The Lions and Bears are both 5-3.  The Lions beat the Bears in their first meeting in Detroit, 40-32.  The Lions are coming off a bye after beating the Dallas Cowboys in the last 14 Seconds in week 8.  Calvin Johnson (Megatron) had 329 Yards Receiving in that game.  Reggie Bush and Calvin Johnson on the same field has created mismatches all over the field.  The Bears are also hungry.  They lost Jay Cutler and have the league’s 14th Ranked Offense.  Detroit has the Sixth Ranked Offense.  Matt Forte has done it onb the Ground though with over 700 Yards and 7TD’s.  Calvin Johnson is 3rd in Receiving, despite being injured almost two games.  This is another rivalry game.  They are calling this a Pick Em, but I say Detroit wins big again, 35-27.

Image

CAROLINA PANTHERS (5-3)

@

Image

SAN FRANCISCO 49ers (6-2)

The 49ers and Panthers are both hot.  This game will pit two young Quarterbacks, Cam Newton vs. Colin Kaepernick.  This game will feature two veteran Running Backs with Frank Gore vs. Deangelo Williams.  This game will feature two old school receivers in Steve Smith vs. Anquan Boldin.  And this game will feature two good defenses.  The Niners have Five Straight Wins after two losses to the Seahawks and Colts.  The Panthers have Four Straight wins after starting 1-2.  The Niners are favored by two field goals.  I am taking the Panthers in an upset on the road, 24-21.

Image

HOUSTON TEXANS (2-6)

@

Image

ARIZONA CARDINALS (4-4)

The Cardinals have been one of those inconsistent teams.  However, their Defense is extremely good.  The Houston Texans on the other hand have been horrible.  More Pick Sixes than any team in the league.  The Cardinals are favored by three points and are at home.  The Cardinals win 24-17.  Arian Foster will not play in this game which hurts the Texans chances.

Image

DENVER BRONCOS (8-1)

@

Image

SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (4-4)

The Broncos role after their bye week.  Peyton Manning, Julius Thomas, Knowshon Moreno and the Receivers all come up big.  The Broncos are only favored by 7 Points.  However, the Broncos annihilate 49-32.

Image

DALLAS COWBOYS (5-4)

@

Image

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (6-2)

In the Sunday Night Matinee, the High Powered Cowboys go on the Road to the bayou.  The Saints are having a comeback year, while the cowboys are the best team in the NFC Least.  The Cowboys are nursing a few injuries.  Drew Brees has the Cowboys Number as of late.  The Saints win 35-31 in another thriller.

Image

Image

MIAMI DOLPHINS (4-4)

@

Image

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (0-8)

The Bucs officially put their Franchise Running Back, Doug Martin on injured reserve.  This team will go the rest of the way with rookie QB Mike Glennolen and RB Mike James.  Tampa will fire their coach any week now, regardless of what the analysts are saying.  The Fish rise again as they beat the Bucs, 24-10.

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Ok…It’s been a hectic week and we are already at the Thursday Night Game. The San Francisco 49ers are 3.5 Point Favorites. The Rams have been better than expected. The Niners have had their asses handed to them the past two weeks. Just found some up to date info that Vernon Davis, who’s Injured, will be a game time decision. Also, Patrick Willis and Nhamdi Asghamua may also miss the game. The Niners have allowed 24 points in eight of its last nine games. They have allowed 140 Yards rushing a game and six rushing Touchdowns this season. Last year their Defense only gave up Six Rushing Touchdowns and only 3 in 2011. So, this game is really a snake in the whole. The 49ers have a must win game tonight so Frank Gore will be important as will the defense. I am taking the 49ers to win 23-17. Stay tuned for THE SAV and his pick. Be back soon!

NFL WEEK #13 RESULTS/FANTASY FALLOUT

Wow!!!! Only 3 Weeks left in this NFL Season and then the playoffs begin! It seems like only yesterday that the Eagles were 3-1…The Arizona Cardinals were 4-0 after beating the Eagles in a blowout. Now ten weeks later both teams are 4-9. My how things can change in 15 minutes…or a few games as the GEICO commercial so originally portrays. Yes folks…3 more weeks of playoff jousting. In the AFC, New England has been on a Torid pace coming down the stretch and just beat the 11-1 Houston Texans in a barn burner. The Texans are still 2 games ahead of the Patriots…and barring a total collapse will have Home Field Advantage in the Playoffs. However, the Pats have clearly been the best team in the AFC down the stretch and maybe the best team in the NFL. I will post my Power Rankings later. In the NFC…the Falcons are struggling after getting beat handily to an awful Carolina Panthers team. The Giants and Packers are the hot teams in the NFC, the reigning champions rebounding from a mini slump by virtually eliminating the New Orleans Saints slim playoff chances. Ok…so after 14 weeks…Aaron and I are still very close in the weekly point spread challenge. Aaron went 9-7 for the second week in a row while I struggled again going 7-9. So the new standings are Jason-107-82….Aaron-108-81. So Aaron has exactly 1 more win than me as he slips into first place for the first time this season. That’s ok…because in Fantasy Football I edged him out for the 3rd seed, while both of us went 8-6, but I destroyed him in the points race. So this week is playoff time in Fantasy. This year I have been riding Peyton Manning, Brandon Marshall, and Calvin Johnson. Johnson are averaging over 23 points a week while Manning is right around 30. If these guys can have a few more good weeks I will be crowned champion. It’s pretty funny…I was 4-6 and ready to throw in the towel and Aaron gave me the old ooh RA speech and I rolled off 4 straight wins and came close to the Points Leader. Anyways…good luck to all my loyal listeners who are involved somehow with Fantasy Football. May the best team WIN! Ok, so now it’s time for my Power Rankings:
1) New England Patriots- They are 9-3 but have been on the hottest of streaks and once again Tom Brady is taking the team on his back. C’mon…you know things are going right when you can sign Donte Stallworth only a week before and he catches 5 balls and scores a long touchdown.
2) Atlanta Falcons- The Falcons have now lost 2 straight and are looking like pretenders once again. They still are 11-2 so they have to be considered one of the best teams. However, the Falcons have been here before and then blew it in the Playoffs.
3) Denver Broncos- Denver is playing with a swagger that has not been seen since the days of John Elway. Peyton Manning is doing his best Elway impression throwing for over 30 Touchdowns for the tenth time in his career. Manning was left for dead by the Colts and has to be the Comeback Player of the year…him and Adrian Peterson.
4) Houston Texans- Houston drops 2 spots after their embarrassing loss to the Patriots after wearing their Letterman Coats. The Texans will always be considered pretenders until they do some damage in the playoffs. Matt Schaub has been so inconsistent.
5) Baltimore Ravens- The Ravens were left for dead after losing Ray Lewis and Cornerback Allen for the season after Week 5. However, the Ravens have been playing dominant defense and this year their offense is on point. Ray Rice is pounding the ball and Joe Flacco is coming into his own.
6) New York Giants- The Giants have rebounded after a mini slump. They have to be favorites after winning it all last year. They have been inconsistent but their defense is playing relentless and if Manning can stop making mistakes…they will be in good shape.
7) San Francisco 49ers- The Niners had the best defense in the NFL at one point this season but they have come back to the pack. They can still be a dangerous team with their pass rush. And they have the type of offense that can win in the playoffs with a scrappy running game…a tough-guy tight end and a stellar offensive line.
8) Green Bay Packers- Aaron Rodgers will always give the Packers a chance in give playoffs as he is an annual MVP candidate. Green Bay can always do some damage in the playoffs due to their cold weather exposure.
9) Chicago Bears- The Bears are stellar on Defense and when Jay Cutler has been healthy he has shown awesome chemistry with Brandon Marshall who now has over 100 catches for the season already. He has went over 160 yards two weeks in a row and 4 weeks of the season. Having this duo will always keep Chicago in the hunt.
10) Seattle Seahawks- The Seahawks are the surprise team in the NFL and have the defense and running game to get it done in the playoffs. The only thing that will make it difficult is having a rookie quarterback. However, Russell Wilson has not looked like a rookie as he plays above his talent level. Marshawn Lynch is a best and their defense is playing tough.

Bottom Feeders:
1) Kansas City Chiefs- This season will be one to forget for the Chiefs and their fans
2) Oakland Raiders- The Raiders need a Quarterback.
3) Philadelphia Eagles- The Eagles managed a comeback win on the road last week against an upstart Tampa Squad. However, this team is going nowhere fast.
4) Cleveland Browns- The Browns are looking again.
5) Arizona Cardinals- After going 4-0 they have lost 9 straight. This team needs a quarterback desperately.

My Top Fantasy Players:
1) Aaron Rodgers
2) Peyton Manning
3) Matt Ryan
4) Tom Brady
5) Adrian Peterson
6) Brandon Marshall
7) Calvin Johnson
8) Arian Foster
9) Jason Witten
10) RJ3

NFL WEEK #13 PICKS/FANTASY STARTS-SITS

Week #13 in the NFL is upon us and after this week’s games there will be just three games left until the playoffs. In the NFC…Atlanta, San Francisco, New York, and Chicago are in with the battle of a few teams on the outside looking in for the wild card. Seattle, Tampa Bay, New Orleans, and Washington, and Green Bay have a shot depending on the last few games. In the AFC…New England, Houston, Baltimore and Denver look to be locks and then there is Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Buffalo have a shot. So this is a huge week in the NFL…not that every week is not, but this could bend or break some team’s chances. New Orleans @ New York Giants, Detroit @ Green Bay, Houston
@ New England, Tampa Bay @ Philly, Miami @ San Francisco, Minnesota @
Chicago, Baltimore @ Washington, And San Diego @ Pittsburgh all could effect playoff implications. Without Further A due, here are the picks:

1) Baltimore Ravens @ Washington Redskins- Washington is favored by 1.5 Points. Aaron says Washington will win and cover behind huge games from RJ3 and Pierre Garçon. I on the other hand am taking Baltimore to upset on the road.

2) Kansas City Chiefs @ Cleveland Browns- Cleveland is favored to win by 7…Aaron says Cleveland wins easily and covers. I say Cleveland wins but KC covers under the cover of adversity.

3) San Diego Chargers @ Pittsburgh Steelers- The Steelers are favored by 8…Aaron says Pittsburgh wins while the Chargers cover. I’m going with Pittsburgh who really needs this game for a shot at the playoffs.

4) Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts- Indy is favored by 4 Points at home. Aaron and I believe that Andrew Luck will continue his unlucky play (no pun intended) and they will win easily.

5) Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets- Aaron says that Jacksonville will win in an upset behind the arm of Chad Henne. I’m taking the Jets to win and cover by the 3 points…their defense comes through big.

6) Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears- The Bears are favored by 3 Points at home. Aaron and I both say Chicago will win easily and cover and Brandon Marshall will continue to dominate.

7) Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons- The Falcons are only favored by 3.5 but Aaron and say this is a stone cold lock for a blowout.

8) Philadelphia Eagles @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Tampa Bay is favored by 7.5 Points and needs the game to keep their playoff hopes alive. Aaron says this is the trap game of the week…Tampa Wins and Philly Covers. I beg to differ, Philly gets routed as Freeman and Williams hook up for multiple touchdowns.

9) Saint Louis Rams @ Buffalo Bills- The Bills are favored by 3 at home. Aaron and I both say Buffalo wins and covers behind the dynamic running game of CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson.

10) Miami Dolphins @ San Francisco 49ers- The Niners are favored by 11 at home. Aaron and I both say that The Niners win while Miami covers.

11) New Orleans Saints @ New York Giants- The Giants are favored by 4.5 points and both teams desperately need a win. I’m taking the Giants to win and cover while Aaron says The Saints will upset and win outright.

12) Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks- Seattle is favored by 10. Aaron and I both take Seattle to win and cover against a God awful Cardinals team.

13) Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers- The Pack is favored by 6.5 but this is a huge rivalry game. Aaron and I both agree that Detroit upsets on the road behind Matthew Stafford and Megatron.

14) Houston Texans @ New England Patriots- New England is favored by 3.5 points against the best team in the AFC. New England is favored and will win easily both Aaron and I concur.

15)Cincinnati Bengals @ Dallas Cowboys- The Cowboys are favored and both Aaron and I say they will win easily.

Fantasy Wins- Brandon Marshall, Josh Freeman, Calvin Johnson, and Tom Brady have huge games.

WEEK 12 NFL PICKS/ FANTASY START EMS- SIT EMS

Wow….It’s Week 12…Thanksgiving a thing of the past…3 good games on Thursday…Black Friday madness…insane amounts of shoppers and money spent. It’s Sunday, November 25th. A day before the opening of Buck Season in Pennsylvania…over a million hunters will venture into the woods hoping to bag a big trophy buck (Myself Included). Anyways…there are Four Games left in the season and playoff implications are on the line in many games. At this point…the race is on for the best record in each conference and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Now to Week 12’s picks:

1) Oakland Raiders @ Cincinnati Bengals- The Bengals are favored by 8.5 points at home. Cincy is playing much better and Andy Dalton/AJ Green have been on a role. In contrast, Oakland has been terribly inconsistent. Their Defense has been suspect and their usual strength (running game) has been inept due to lingering injuries to Darren McFadden. My pick is the Bengals to win the game, but Oakland will cover the spread. Aaron on the other hand takes Cincy to win and cover and AJ Green will have his 10th straight game with a Touchdown Reception.
2) Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns- The Steelers are favored by 1.5, even without Rothlisberger. The Steelers are tough on Defense and will rely on their running game to control the clock. Cleveland will keep the game close, but the Steelers will win and cover the spread. Aaron agrees that the Steelers will win and cover, and he feels it will be a low scoring game.
3) Buffalo Bills @ Indianapolis Colts- The Colts are favored by 3 at home. Andrew Luck may be the rookie of the year in the NFL and is showing the team that they made a move in the right direction. The Bills get Fred Jackson back and have a great 1-2 punch in the running game with Jackson and Spiller. I’m gonna take the Bills to win outright behind their strong running game. Aaron believes that Indianapolis will win at home and cover the spread. He expects a big game from Reggie Wayne.
4) Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs- Denver is favored by 10.5 on the road. Peyton Manning continues to dominate the AFC and already should be cemented as the comeback player of the year in the NFL. The loss of Willis McGahee could be bigger than expected, though as he really has brought balance to the Denver Offense. Denver will win, but KC will cover the spread. Aaron and I both agree on this one.
5) Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars- The Titans are favored by 3.5 on the road. Chris Johnson has resurrected his career and the Titans have looked good at times. Jacksonville on the other hand has been the worst team in the NFL. However, the Jaguars are due and Aaron and I are both taking the Jags to win outright.
6) Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears-
The Bears are favored by 6.5 at home
and are getting Jay Cutler back. The Vikings are still in the playoff hunt, but Chicago’s Defense will be too much. Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall will be back to the grind. Chicago wins and covers…Aaron and I both concur.
7) Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Atlanta is favored by 1.5 on the road. Aaron says The Falcons will win and cover. I’m taking Tampa Bay at home behind another big game by Josh Freeman. Atlanta is due for a
Slump.
8) Seattle Seahawks @ Miami Dolphins- The Seahawks are favored by 3 on the road. I’m taking Seattle, who continues to impress the league. Expect Marshawn Lynch to pound the ball and get 100 yards/2 Touchdowns. Aaron feels that Seattle will be jet lagged by the trip and Miami will upset.
9) Baltimore Ravens @ San Diego Chargers- Baltimore is favored by 1 so this game could go either way. Aaron and I both are taking Baltimore to win and cover with an inconsistent Philip Rivers struggling week in and week out.
10) San Francisco 49ers @ New Orleans Saints- The Niners are favored by 1.5 on the road. Aaron is taking the Niners in a tough game while i am going to say that The Saints continue their hot streak…as they try to become the first team in NFL history to start a season 0-4 and then make the playoffs. Drew Brees is a Beast!
11) Saint Louis Rams @ Arizona Cardinals- The Cardinals are favored by 1.5 at home. Aaron and I are both taking the Rams to win against an Arizona team that has been in disarray after a strong start. The Rams win by at least a touchdown.
12) Green Bay Packers @ New York Giants- The Giants are favored by a field goal. Eli has been inconsistent and their wide receivers have disappeared. Aaron and I are taking the Pack to destroy the NY Football Giants.
13) Carolina Panthers @ Philadelphia Eagles- Carolina is favored by 3 points and we both agree Carolina in a route!!!

Five to Start;
1) Brandon Marshall
2) Steelers Defense
3) AJ Green
4) Reggie Wayne
5) Josh Freeman

WEEK #11 RESULTS/THURSDAY NIGHT PICKS/FANTASY FALLOUT

So Week #11 of the NFL Season is in the books. This season is winding down. So Far the best teams are pulling away from the pack, Atlanta in the NFC and Houston in the AFC. Week #11 saw Aaron go 9-5 against the spread….while I had my best week yet going 12-2. So far this years standings are as follows:
Jason: 83-60
Aaron: 80-63

So we are still neck and neck as this race is going down to the wire. Here are my NFL Power Rankings as of today.
1) Atlanta Falcons
2) Houston Texans
3) San Francisco 49ers
4) Denver Broncos
5) Baltimore Ravens
6) Green Bay Packers
7) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
8) Chicago Bears
9) New England Patriots
10) New York Giants….

Bottom Feeders:
1) Philadelphia Eagles
2) Cleveland Browns
3) Jacksonville Jaguars
4) Carolina Panthers
5) Saint Louis Rams

Week# 11 Featured some more key injuries as Willis McGahee of the Denver Broncos went down with a torn MCL and will likely miss the rest of the season. In Philly, Andy Reid made yet another huge coaching mistake as he had LeSean McCoy, the team’s running back and arguably MVP playing in the last two minutes of a blowout to the Washington Redskins. Well, McCoy suffered a concussion and will miss substantial time. And probably the worst injury as far as a team goes, The New England Patriots lost All-Pro Tight End Rob Gronkowski to an arm injury on a PAT at the end of the game. Injuries are a major part of the game and sometimes they really do make a difference in the fate of a teams playoff chances. Injuries definitely effect Fantasy Football Leagues in tremendous ways. My pick of RJ3 as a fantasy standout last week stood true as did my pick of Nick Foles as a Fantasy goat. If course, Nick Foles is in a no win situation.
Now to Thursdays Picks….There will be 3 Games played tomorrow on Thanksgiving, one extra than the traditional Thanksgiving special.
1) Houston Texans @ Detroit Lions- The Texans were lucky to escape with a win in Overtime last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Houston is making the big play at will this year and their defense is playing big as well. They are favored by 3 points in the road in Detroit. The Lions always play well on Thanksgiving, but I cannot see them beating the best team in the AFC. The Texans will win and cover but expect the game to be Competitive. Megatron will have a huge game and this matchup will favor two of the top receivers in the league in Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson.

2) Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys- The Cowboys are favored by 3 points at home. This is an excellent Divisional Rival game with huge playoff implications. The Redskins will hang in there but Dallas will pull away in the end. Dallas wins and covers.

3) New England Patriots @ New York Jets- The Jets have been a circus, despite their win last week. New England just lost one of their best weapons. However, they are always able to recover from key injuries and this is the time they usually make their run. The Patriots are favored by 6.5 on the road and I say they win and cover. Expect Tom Brady to shine and take over the game.

Stay tuned for Aaron’s picks. Ok…as far as Fantasy Football goes my team won and my record went to 5-6. I still have a slight chance to make the playoffs, but I must win out. I lost Willis McGahee, my 3rd starting running back to miss significant time this year. Peyton Manning continues to be my leader and Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshall are the top of the list as far as wide receiver points go. Hopefully I can even up my record this week and edge closer to the playoffs. Till next time….HAPPY TURKEY DAY everyone!

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL WEEK #11 PICK/STATE OF NFL/CY DICKEY

So we are now in Week #11…Thursday Night Football. Aaron and I are tied with identical records. Miami is 3 point underdog on the road against the Buffalo Bills. Aaron is going with the road team and taking the Dolphins. The Dolphins with a 4-5 record still have a chance to make the playoffs. Yes, they have been up and down and inconsistent (1-2) after their bye, but the AFC East is still wide open. The Bills on the other hand were expected to rise up and challenge the Patriots. This has not happened, though and the Bills are (3-6). The Bills still have a slim chance to make the playoffs, but they are in a must win situation at home tonight against the Dolphins at home. I’m taking the Bills at home, not because they are better than the Dolphins, but because they need the game more than Miami. Also, the Bills almost took the Patriots to task while the Dolphins lost big time to the Titans. Chris Johnson ran all over the Dolphins. The Bills have a solid running game, but they took a serious blow last week when they lost Starting Running Back Fred Jackson to a head injury. The Bills are blessed to have CJ Spiller on their bench, who has split time with Jackson all season. These games are always tight and entertaining and the Bills will win and beat the spread. I’m saying 24-17 Buffalo Final. This should be a fun divisional matchup and I do expect Miami to play much better than they did Sunday against the Titans. Now to the state of the rest of the NFL. There were a few quarterback injuries in week #10 with Michael Vick and Jay Cutler going down. The Eagles and Jets are the NFL circus of the NFC/AFC respectively. In the NFC, the Falcons continue to lead the league in Power Rankings, but they did come back down to earth with a loss to their Division Rival New Orleans Saints. My Power Rankings going into Week #11 are as follows:
1) Atlanta Falcons
2) Houston Texans
3) Baltimore Ravens
4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
5) Chicago Bears
6) New York Giants
7) Denver Broncos
8) Green Bay Packers
9) San Francisco 49ers
10) New England Patriots

The NFC dominates the power rankings through this week. As mentioned, the Philadelphia Eagles are in disarray and now have lost starting quarterback Michael Vick to a concussion. Their makeshift minor league offensive line has not helped their season at all and Andy Reid continues to be the talk of the town. Most experts agree that Reid has lost this team and that it’s time for this franchise to rebuild from the top to the bottom. In the AFC, the New York Jets are making headlines even with their horrible play. A few anonymous players have come out and bashed back up quarterback Tim Tebow saying that he is “terrible” and he is “more of a wildcat than a quarterback.” These statements have come amid a disappointing 2012 season behind Mark Sanchez even though Tim Tebow has not had a chance to succeed or fail. What a disaster the other New York team has on its hands. Now they are bashing each other towards players that have not even contributed to their record this season. This is a pathetic situation and Rex Ryan has his hands tied with this one.
In MLB news, it has to be the feel good story of the season with RA Dickey being formally announced as the National League CY Young Award winner yesterday. RA Dickey has been a tremendous story this season and rightly deserved to win this award. The goat of the week has to be the Florida Marlins who just made a horrible trade and fire sale of star players. And Hockey has made the news…even with the NHL being off due to the Labor Dispute. A High School team in Pennsylvania has made news as they refuse to sing the National Anthem before its teams games. This is a travesty to our Nation. More sports news to come later in the week.

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL WEEK #7

Wow. Im just starting to get used to these Thursday Night Games in the NFL. It’s actually really cool because it gives you another option on television…especially with the NHL enduring a lockout and the NBA season yet to get under way. Well tonight’s matchup is an NFC West Division Rivalry Game. The Seattle Seahawks take to the road against division rivals San Francisco. The 49ers have had the most balanced team in the NFL on both sides of the ball thus far….boasting a top defense and a top 10 Offense. However…tonight will be no cake walk. Both teams are 4-2 and the Seahawks are coming off a tremendous game against the New England Patriots. Seattle stunned the Pats at home in one of the biggest upsets so far this year. The 49ers are coming off an embarrassing loss to the New York Giants who were supposed to get eaten apart by San Fran. Instead…the Giants ran and passed their way to a lopsided win against the favored 49ers. San Francisco may have the number 1 total defense, however, Seattle has a better run defense and have truly shut down opposing backs. The 49ers do have Frank Gore, but he is sometimes inconsistent. This season has been so hard to pick thus far, but I have to go and take the 49ers at home in this one as a bounce back win after getting manhandled by the Giants. I also believe this is one of those let down type of situations for Seattle who played their Superbowl last week. Seattle does have Marshawn Lynch and the Quaterback Ron Wilson. Wilson has been an impressive surprise and his number 1 target is Sidney Rice…the former Minnesota star wide receiver. This game will be close but I havta take the 49ers to win and cover. Had San Fran beaten the Giants this would be a trap game situation, but with the 49ers getting embarrassed against the Giants…they will be out for blood. Stay Tuned. Be back in a bit with the MLB playoffs news. Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, and The 49ers Defense are must starts. Marshawn Lynch, Ron Wilson, and Rice should all struggle to find the endzone.

NFL WEEK 6 PICKS/FANTASY START EMS-SIT EMS

It’s that time AGAIN. 1 game already down in Week#6, an upset with the Tennessee Titans beating the Pittsburgh Steelers. This season has been a very tough one to get a handle on as far as favorites and underdogs. Many times the opposite has won. Well I guess that’s what makes sports fun. At least the Yankees lost…so there should be a lot of happy sports fans this AM. Anyways…here are my Week #6 Picks:
1) Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns- The Bengals are only favored by 2.5 points on the road against the woeful Browns. This tells you a fee things…Vegas has no faith in the Browns, who are winless and have even less faith in the Bengals. I’m actually going out on a limb and taking the Browns at home to win outright. The Bengals have been a major disappointment and the Browns are due for a win.
2) Indianapolis Colts @ New York Jets- The line in this one is 3.5 with the Jets favored to win at home. The Jets have been another disappointment, losing Revis for the season really hurt this team bad. The Colts have been up and down. Andrew Luck has not been too bad. Look for his luck to shine in this one. I’m taking the Colts as Road Dogs to beat the Jets.
3) Kansas City Chiefs @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers- The Bucs are favored at home by 4.5 points. I’m taking the Bucs to win the game, but the Chiefs will cover. I don’t see this being a high scoring game as both teams play good defense. I don’t think the Chiefs will be able to run on the Bucs and If Tampa can control the clock they should be able to pull this out.
4) Oakland Raiders @ Atlanta Falcons- Wow! The Falcons are the toast of the NFC right now and Vegas is showing this. Atlanta is favored by 9.5 points. Normally I stay away from these one sided games…but Atlanta is playing dominant football on both sides of the ball. Look for Matt Ryan and this explosive offense to continue it’s onslaught on a not so good Raider’s defense. Take the Falcons and they will cover.
5) Dallas Cowboys @ Baltimore Ravens- The Ravens are favored by a field goal in this one. Baltimore continues to shine on Defense and their offense remains one if the most balanced in the NFL. Tony Romo has been horrible and I don’t see the Cowboys turning their game around on the road against a tough Raven’s D. Take the Ravens to win and cover.
6) Detroit Lions @ Philadelphia Eagles- The Eagles have been so inconsistent and have not faired well as the favorite. The only thing as consistent that the Eagles have done under Andy Reid’s tenure as coach besides being pass happy is that they usually bounce back with wins after a loss. I picked the Eagles to beat the Steelers and of course was wrong like most of the experts. If the Eagles can commit to the run I could see them routing the Lions. However, Andy Reid could screw up a wet dream. The Birds are favored by 3.5 points. Look for another close game here and the Eagles bounce back at home. The Eagles win but the Lions cover.
7) Saint Louis Rams @ Miami Dolphins- Miami has really jelled this season and they continue to improve on both sides of the ball. The Rams pulled out a win on Monday Night in an upset but they will not fair as well against the streaking Dolphins. The Dolphins, who are favored by 4.5 points at home will beat the Rams easily and cover.
8) New England Patriots @ Seattle Seahawks- New England is only favored by 3.5 on the road. The Patriots are looking for a blowout and this has the makings of one. However, they played a very intense game last week against Denver and this could be one of those let down games. I cannot bet against the Patriots though. Take New England to win the game and cover.
9) Buffalo Bills @ Arizona Cardinals- The Cardinals are favored by 4 at home against a Bills team that has struggled to find an identity this season. Arizona has played consistent as evidenced by their record. The Bills are due for a solid game and I’m taking the Buffalo to win but Arizona will cover.
10) Minnesota Vikings @ Washington Redskins- The Redskins have had many injuries including RJ3 last week suffering a concussion. They are only favored by 2 points against a Vikings team that is not getting any credit around the league for the good start. I’m going to take the Vikings in a road upset as they win outright.
11) New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers- This is the marquee matchup of the day pitting the number 1 offensive team (Giants) against the number 1 Defense (49ers). The 49ers are favored by 6.5 points at home in this one. I like the 49ers to win the game but the Giants will cover as this one comes down to the wire. It could be a preview of the NFC Championship Game Folks.
12) Green Bay Packers @ Houston Texans- In the past few seasons the Packers would be favorites on the road, but not this season and particularly not in this game. The Texans have distanced themselves as the class of the AFC. Houston is favored by 3.5 points in this game and I am going to agree with Vegas. Take Houston to win and cover.
13) Denver Broncos @ San Diego Chargers- This game is a pick Em right now. The Chargers have played well this season, but Peyton Manning continues to show the league that the Colts made a huge mistake in getting rid of him. Manning is back and he makes the Broncos so much better. Take the Broncos to squeak by the Chargers in a Monday Night Thriller.
Ok…stay tuned for Aaron’s picks. It should be another exciting Sunday.

Now to Fantasy Football. My team is plugging away at 2-3. These are the weeks when leagues get interesting with the injuries mounting and more and more teams on the bye. This is where having a good bench can really improve your chances. Here are my Start Ems for Week #6:
QB-Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan, Tom Brady
RB- Reggie Bush, Michael Turner, LeSean McCoy
WR- Calvin Johnson, Roddy White, A.J Green
TE- Brent Celek, Vernon Davis, Tony Gonzalez
